LimitedTimeOnly’s doesn’t look too bad now, does it? This was off a friend’s 2003 WRX where the filter lives behind the fog light. Said friend also lives most of the year in Iowa.

Those Spectre filters end up looking like that in short order. The metal mesh around the filter element rusts and stains the filter.
Generally they look in fay worse shape than they actually are.
Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure the car’s looks like that right now.
